Our History
2006 | Answering the Call of Ministry
Pastors Joseph and Rhonda Merrill are the founding pastors of Covenant Church Lake Havasu. They met as teenagers at church in Augusta, Maine. They married in 1979. Joseph and Rhonda have served in ministry for over 40 years. They have planted churches, pastored, evangelized and trained leaders across the country.Pastors Landon and Emily married in 2006 and answered the call of ministry at the ages of 20 & 22. They served alongside Pastor Landon’s family by planting Covenant Church Lake Havasu in Lake Havasu City, AZ in 2005. They served as Assistant Pastors from 2006-2011.
2011 | The Second Church Plant
Landon and Emily responded to the call from Pastor Mike Hayes to come help establish and restore Covenant Church Flagstaff. Upon their move, they discovered great personal history. In that Landon’s grandparents; Jacky and Deanna Willhoite, pastored the same church in the mid 60’s…some years after Pastors Jimmy and Shirley Hayes (Mike’s parents) had moved on to continue their ministry in Texas.
2018 | Covenant Church Arizona Officially Launches
With the help of the community, Pastors Landon and Emily along with the team, opened the doors at our brand new location in Flagstaff, and officially launched as senior pastors of Covenant Church Arizona!
2019 | Bridge Church Was Born
Upon receiving a revelation from God regarding our identity, we rebranded from Covenant Church Arizona to Bridge Church. Fulfilling God’s calling on our church to stand upon our covenant with God and bridge the gap between the church and the community. Now, Flagstaff is a thriving location for Bridge Church. We stand firm on God’s vision for this city and this state as a whole. We love our State Motto: “Ditat Deus” which means, “God Enriches”. We believe that when you visit our campus, you will feel God’s love and know He is enriching every area of your life!
2023 | Bridge Church Celebrates 5 Years
On Palm Sunday of 2023, Bridge Church celebrated 5 years of ministry in Flagstaff! We had services at DoubleTree all weekend long to praise God and thank Him for all He has done.During the spring of 2023, Pastors Joesph and Rhonda approached their staff, team, and Pastors Landon and Emily with the heart and plan of succession and retirement.
2024 | Bridge Church Launches Lake Havasu Campus
In October of 2024, Covenant Church Lake Havasu becomes Bridge Church Lake Havasu, our 2nd location. We are honored and excited for all the Lord has in store. We believe in bridging the gap from the mountain to the river, to be the most impactful church in Arizona.
